All products on Clay Maiden are made by hand from earthenware clay. Each piece is individually crafted without the use of molds. After a piece has be made it is fired at high temperatures in a kiln to harden the clay. Then it is glazed for color with FDA approved non toxic food safe glazes and refired. The final outcome is a durable work of art with vivid colors and a nice gloss finish. Every piece is unique and no two will ever be exactly the same. While I prefer to make more whimsical pieces I do accept commissions for custom dishware and other functional pottery. At this moment I am actively studying portrait sculpture and hope to be able to offer affordable clay portraits of loved ones, human and animal, very soon.

At the current moment I am using Mayco Stoke and Coat, Mayco Crytalites glazes which are all FDA approved as Non-Toxic and food safe. I do also use Mayco Exotics glazes which are toxic. Toxic glazes will only ever be used on pieces that are not meant for use with food or liquids.
